I just realised that this would have been good for the 'structures' theme. Queen's College has been doing some 'remodelling' around it's entrance which is very nice - or was until they installed some quite hideous fencing. So I got right up close and stuck my lens between the bars for a new angle on the Mathematical Bridge. I took this on Monday (4th) but am posting for Sunday because I'm bored with chopping the heads off hockey players to meet child protection guidelines!
Three good things:
1. Three very exciting games of hockey.
2. Cambridge City won and are going to the National Finals in April (trying to ignore potential GCSE revision catastrophe).
3. Lovely to see Rachel and have a meal together in the evening.
I wonder how they managed to curve that lovely wooden bridge so beautifully ...well thought out! Of course you had to have a punt underneath...do they punt all year round, i thought it might just be in the summer months.
Well done the hockey players & I agree bad timing but education is an all round thing so hopefully it will work out! Love that crooked building too, it seems to be leaning towards the river!
Pity the poor carpenter that had to cut all those angles!!! Not sure what I like best about this - the punters, the green grass, the sunshine, the hint of green on the tree, or the warmth of the brick....all of it I guess!
Love the bridge, the light, the placement of the boat...wish there'd been a way to not cut off the top of the building though. Congrats to Adam on the hockey tournament. What is GCSE?
@jgpittenger I knew you'd notice the top of the building - even worse was that I had acres of green at the bottom! I don't look through the viewfinder at the right angle (wearing glasses issue maybe?) and I was rushing as I had plated myself in the newly seeded landscaping! Our children do a big set of exams (about 10 subjects) at 16 - GCSE's and then they do 3 or 4 A' levels at 18 which are required for University entry - a string of top GCSE grades is required for 'offers' from a lot of good universities. University offers are made in the first half of the final year at school and are contingent on getting good enough grades in the exams right at the end. The exam results come out in the middle of August and courses start from the middle of September onwards so you go from limbo to mad organisation (or disappointment).

I was always missing the theme weeks too.
