They are a bit funny about you photographing the quilts but I liked the overview from the neighbouring hangar especially with the Typhoon which my dad worked on in the background - and my mum in the photo! Sorry about the mass upload.
Three good things:
1. Rachel, Penny, Megan and Hannah :0)
2. Nice material with camper vans on.
3. The Rupert Brooke pub which had the ONLY table within a 5 mile radius of Cambridge and averted a disaster.
Weare regular visitors to Duxford and I didn't know they held exhibitions like this. Chris is ex airforce and he says, looking at your picture,,,,,the Typhoon is new exhibiotion. Looks like a great coloourful display. Fancy your dad working on it....he must have been pleased to see it!
Great overview shot. Lots of detail and colour. We have seen these quilts when in Canada, the work In them is certainly amazing. Your mum is certainly a clever bunny as we say!
@Cherrill He's worked on loads of them actually - we'd been here for years before we took him and he said, 'I worked on that one, I worked on that one, that one had dodgy landing gear.....' We were amazed!
These quilts make a lovely colourful picture, I would have loved to have been able to see them .btw has Helen shown you the one I made for her putting in a lot of sentimental pieces of fabric in . ?
@humphreyhippo must be the jd!! most of us see pink elephants..apparently!! What an extraordinary juxtaposition of 'stuff'!! I love craft shows, there is so much talent out there.wonderful
@fannyb I don't think I'm imagining it - a third of the way up on the right, on the stand... actually, now I think of it, I haven't seen Humphrey all day. ;)
Trying to guess which one is your mum & am going to go for the lady in the dark coat with the white bag over her left arm?
Fabulous picture of contrasting subjects....planes & patchwork, great opposites!
No worries re upload, we have missed you over the last three days!
Sounds a lovely weekend!
Gosh people are really shifting about! I went to one of these fairs at Chillworth Manor a few years back. Amazing skill patchworking and such beautiful fabrics. If I had more patience and tolerance I would love to give it a go. Great shot
I love that you spent time with your mum doing things she likes, and got to see your dad's work again! This view shows so much activity and I really want to know what's for sale at the booth in the bottom left--everyone seems to be crowding it!
@anwan Must have had a deal on! @busylady With different shades of blue? Yes lovely - but my favourite was the lavender/green one at the end of the row.
Material with campervans on? That sounds very cool!
I suppose they are wary of photos becuauseeach one is in effect a uniquework of art and they dont want copycats.
