I've shamelessly stolen the title of this photo from The Varsity student magazine which reports that while 70 gloves have appeared on the railings outside The Gurdon Institute (for cancer research) on Tennis Court Road, nobody knows who put them there or why. I dropped Adam at school for his exam, picked up Rachel's contact lenses and found myself in town by 8.15 am which was a little early for the shopping I had to do. Forced (of course) to go for a coffee in Carluccio's I did eventually rouse myself to walk down to the gloves (which I'd spotted from the car) though I'm not sure the photo really 'works'. I'll put another one in Extras.
Three good things:
1. A quote about the gloves in Varsity from my ex-boss's lovely wife.
2. I could do my own installation with my extensive collection of odd socks.
3. Lovely response to Spring at King's - thank so much.
Works perfectly Judith & such a fun thing to see, would put a smile on your face I'm sure. I am with you on the sock thing & there's only two of us!!!
You have a great DOF here & a perfectly placed man!!!! ( which is rare as they are always in the wrong place!!!!)
I agree re the man being perfectly placed. For me the dof and leading line seem as if they shoul work better than they do...maybe a slightly different angle so that a few of them were more clear?
@happypat Hahaa - that's true! Actually I think @jgpittenger is right that the DOF is a bit too shallow - I only had my 50mm lens with me and on this occasion it wasn't the best choice. Ah well - it's 'handy' experience!
Well it does work as photo and I like the whole idea.
A per no2, been hanging in to the last round if odd socks from my socktopuss for just such s thing …
The shot works. I have to smile when I see things like this - an installation like this wouldn't last very long here. They'd be taken in a jiffy and used, odd gloves or not.
They could easily be taken by a street living person! We have shoes laced on to a houses fence, bicycles tied on to a fence, bra's tied on to a roadside fence - all very ugly, I think!
Wonderful DOF and I love cultures that place lost gloves on fences so people can come back and find them! Opps, just read your commentary closer. Well, who knows, maybe someone needs the other half!

Tinker would certainly be happy to help alleviate you of issue 2!
