I was up and out early to walk Monty before the heat kicked in but already before 8 it was hot in the sun. It was lovely walking through town with the church bells tolling and only a few people out and about heading off to early services. So I took lots of photos of quiet streets which may well feature at some point but in honour of Andy Murray this photo of the sundials at Gonville and Caius has made the cut - mostly so I can use the title! The 'clocks' are accurate but an hour out at the moment as they are set for BST - I took advantage of the quiet and climbed the Senate House steps for the photo.
Four GT:
1. Andy Murray
2. A very dignified opponent
3. We can stop going on about Fred Perry
4. A lovely evening in our friends' garden - always beautiful but especially pristine from the National Garden Scheme Open Day.
I can imagine just how nice it must have been to walk around and take shots so early, especially with the glorious weather that your having at the moment. Lovely shot!
Wonderful shot! Sundials amaze me with their simplicity and accuracy. Sounds like a perfect time to be out walking on Sunday...before the heat and before the tennis match of the century in GB! Way to go, Andy!!!
A wonderful afternoon indeed!!! An early walk through the quiet streets of Cambridge on a Sunday morning sounds idyllic . These sundials are a very pretty & unusual addition to that beautiful clock tower, I have never seen sundials used as a replacement for the traditional clock !
i like your early morning light judith...Sunday was indeed a hot and very balmy day....we only get them like that once every few years .....i had a chuckle driving to work ...chris evans (or one of his listeners texted in) said andy murray was the first Brit to win Wimbledon wearing shorts :)
I loved all those sundials in Cambridge, especially as the poet I'm writing my PhD thesis about wrote a poem about a sundial, too ;). Lovely perspective here! Would love to see a photo of that pristine garden, too.
