We finally got all children/grandchildren in the right country to celebrate mum's 80th birthday. She's hiding the age on the cake in this photo so that she can show her friends without revealing her age!
Three good things:
1. Family together, good food, and a proper celebration.
2. My sister for hosting despite major kitchen works.
3. Clacket Lane service station after an hour and a half of the worst driving conditions (complete white out spray and heavy rain) I've ever experienced - I peeled my fingers off the steering wheel and handed over to Nigel!
Oh my goodness...what a happy celebration for your beautiful and ageless mom with all of her wonderful family on hand for the milestone event! What a darling cake with the quilt and spools of thread.
Re: #3...I despise driving in torrential rain too. Glad you had Nigel to take the helm.
Good for your Mum! She doesn't look her true age so why admit it! My mother was the same and I never knew her real age until after she died! A warm and sensitive portrait Judith, really well done.
What a lovely photo and your Mum looks great for her age. How sweet to want to hide her age - I find most people of that age can't wait to tell you how old they are! The dreaded road to hell - the M25 - say no more!
it's a lovely picture of your mum judith...what's the significance of the bobbins ?......... Strange isn't it how we grip on to the steering wheel all tense ..I've experienced the relief of tension sensation before when driving in horrific conditions...snow / rain / fog ...pick any one of three !

This is a wonderful portrait shot - a framer.
I think your mum might be a sewer!!
