Dustbowl years

I had a slightly stressful walk today trying to get past a rape field so as to miss the harvester when Monty had other ideas. The situation spiralled downhill when a horse and rider appeared behind us and I then spent 10 mins dragging a dog who was essentially walking backwards - with the combine catching us up... Anyway - the title comes from a song by Nancy Griffiths - I like a bit of country music!
Three GT:
1. I've invested in Jamie Oliver's 15 Minute Meals as we need to eat more salads (first effort very good apart from the dressing being too hot and too bitter - will have to try a different one).
2. Phil - the nice young stay at home dad in Waitrose who looked stunned and told me I looked far too young to have a 19 year old daughter. I've always liked men called Phil.
3. My nice pink rose which I trimmed back is having a second bloom.
Great shot Judith showing the dust flying about. Love your 3 good things especially No. 2!

Yes, a bit of flattery gets you everywhere! Oh and I can just picture you on your walk, I hope you weren't that close to the tractor - scary!

Love your commentary particularly about Monty walking backwards! I remember the feeling! I had a similar experience to yours with Phil. We were purchasing tickets for a ferry ride and asked for pensioner's prices. Th man looked at me and said to John, " you are trying to pass her off as a pensioner"?

Ooh get you being chatted up ;o) I work with a Phil but I always call him Philip...he's a nice guy. I have wanted to stop so many times on my way home from work to get the tractors harvesting but alas there is nowhere on the road safe enough and it's too late now as their job is done and all bales have been sorted and taken away xx
August 19th, 2013
@psychographer What's annoying is that there isn't a bale to be seen!!

@maggiemae Quite right!

it's a super close up pic of the wheel, dust and the flying bits judith ...the vibrant red works well . I think three GT no.2 is good one ....and I cannot argue with your statement about men called Phil :)

This crop is perfect!!! And I am sure my son-in-law Phil would agree to #2. And we all need more Jamie Oliver in our kitchens.

Great crop (no pun intended!) and love the bright red at the top of the shot which contrasts nicely with the dust and the stubble.
