A really grotty day today - not untypical for August Bank Holiday - and we stayed in and tackled some long overdue clearing out. Mostly precipitated by running out of patience with the 'floordrobe' in Adam's room, it spilled over into a semi clearance of our 'study' (I use the term very loosely - I could just as accurately have said 'odd pokey room over the stairs') and other odd cupboards around the place. Still masses to do but a trip to the tip is in order first and another run to the charity shop - it's quite scary how much consuming we have done over the years. Also we get forests worth of paperwork that I store and I'm sure the 2004 versions could safely be disposed off but that involves opening every envelope. Still every little helps.
I'm now wondering if it would be totally insane to go to Ikea on Monday. And even more insane to buy him new flat pack wardrobes - the drawer instructions alone run to 22 pages.
Three good things:
1. My lovely nephew Louis is 18 today.
2. Charity shops.
3. Looks like my sister may get her cataracts done fairly swiftly.
Oh and the photo - the punts at Trinity (though I deliberately focussed on the tree looking lush in the rain) - run by the lovely Chris who housesits for our next door neighbours at Christmas.
Nice photo, Judith - I kept wondering when you were going to mention it! I find those clear-outs so satisfying when you get down to them. Think it's going to be sunny tomorrow & Monday
Wonderful names on those punts Judith, I like your veiw under the boughs.
How long do you keep your business accounts I wonder I am dying to get rid of bags of the things in the attic but dare not yet...seven years I wonder?
I have just read in our local mag of a man who builds your flat packs for you....there is decadence for you!!!
Wonderful - love the dof on this and the names of the boats - manage to get the dog for a walk and take a quick photo before the heavy rain set in here - happy bank holiday weekend!!! : ))
@happypat I don't know about businesses - I know it's 7 years for personal. It's all digital as well but as you say the loft is getting full. Mind you the business paid for some of the cost of insulating/flooring it because we needed storage for paperwork so I can't really complain that my Christmas decs are getting squashed!
@humphreyhippo I think maybe I won't!! Might wait till midweek although apparently it will be packed with students buying forks and beer glasses anyway.
Excellent composition and love those crisp green leaves which make a good contrast with the punts. Ikea is crowded any time but Bank Holiday Monday especially if it's wet???? Think again!
Great photo and I love your story today! Isn't it amazing how one thing leads to another on a wet Saturday. Yesterday Allan picked up a mirror we'd had repaired and when I saw it this morning there was a major bathroom clean to welcome it back, then a new chair delivered and the hoover was busy ........good feeling all round in spite of rain.
@sarah19 Yes quite satisfying but it's raining again today and I'm up again at 6.30 (Adam's doing breakfast shifts and has a huge puncture...still last one before school now) and I'm wondering if I can be bothered with more cupboards - might do one or two!!
Yes - It would be insane to have ikea-d it on monday. Hope you saw sense when it came to it., particularly as that was the best day of the lot, at least where we were (not too far from you - we headed fenwards to see my APs).

Ikea on a bank holiday? I wouldn't. ;)
