Green grow the rushes o

Rachel has hurt her shoulder (throwing a hoop for Monty!) and has had to finish her punting season a bit earlier than intended which has the nice side effect that she comes on dog walks with me. We met up with Lovely Linda in Cambourne today for a walk around the lakes. Cambourne is a new town and can be pretty easily dated by the names of it's 'features'. This heron is standing in 'Whomping Willow Lake'.
Three GT:
1. Company on dog walks
2. A nice cafe half way around dog walks
3. Final got out for dinner tonight to celebrate exam/driving test successes so no cooking all day - dieting tomorrow!
Gorgeous whomping shot! Lovely light and reflections!

Simply beautiful!! Love the colors and the gorgeous simplicity of composition. I hate to hear that Rachel has suffered a punting season ending injury! I hope she is on a fast track to recovery. I know you'll enjoy your time together.

Where are you all finding your herons?? None in my neck of the woods. Lovely shot.

Wonderful colours and reflections, and a heron too!

@lucypics Yes well - up against @jo13 with her close up fish catching herons I nearly didn't bother! Rachel says there's often one by the river at King's College - that would make a good pic!

Lovely heron against the rushes! Cambourne sounds like Columbia where I live, also a new town with odd names. The names must have been part of the newness -- no boring numbered streets or Elm or Maple tree names.

Love the reflections. Beautiful capture.

What a perfect composition and such nice bright colours. I love the grace with which the herons move, stand or do anything at all.

Sounds like a perfect day. Beautiful colour, composition and peace.

Oh my goodness Judith I haven't heard that song for such a long long time.....I bet you used to sing that in school too!!
I thinks it's providence that Rachel has hurt her shoulder now you can spend the last couple of weeks in good quality time before she goes back to uni. Not that I wish a sore shoulder on her!!
Whomping Willow Lake say that after a couple of G&T's!

Love the reflection - and the name! It will be interesting to see if HP has the longevity for people to keep getting the reference.

Now I will be singing that song all night!!! Pity about Rachel - dog toys can be very dangerous - I dislocated a rib reaching for one once. Hope she feels better soon and you two continue to enjoy your together time :)

@judithg Sounds fun! Is that the 14th meet up that's taken place, or a meet up on the 14th?! :-)
August 30th, 2013
@blightygal Hahaa - it's a meet up on the 14th - @boxplayer and @sparkle are going amongst others. It may also be the 14th....

Whomping Willow Lake?! Awesome. Cambourne's always struck me as a slightly scary, Stepfordy sort of place tbh. But I like your heron.

@judithg thanks for the heads up, but will decline I think - bit out of the loop here now! Hope you have a fab time, and look forward to your photo's!
