A lovely spring day threatening winter today. We walked Monty early and wandered through Jesus Green which required lots of treats as Monty was absolutely certain that he would be playing hoops there. The swans came over to have a good hiss at him. We then dropped Adam off for a hockey game and to kill the hour before play started we went and browsed a show home in one of the local massive developments that are going up. £450K for a 2 bed apartment - nice balcony overlooking the car park and beautifully done but honestly how are youngsters supposed to afford a family home in this city? LOADS of building and all unaffordable to the vast majority. We then moved on to a 4 bed townhouse - beautifully done especially the master suite on the top floor with large sitting room balcony thing. The kitchen and living space are all on the first floor which means you have to go downstairs to the garden and can't live like we do all the time in the summer - in and out of the garden. Anyway I won't be struggling with whether to splash £900K on one because they are all sold off plan. We did have a chuckle when opening the wardrobe in one of the bedrooms and finding Adam's school uniform hanging up - it is very close but they should be on commission as a selling point!
Three GT:
1. We don't want to move house.
2. A fantastic really exciting game of hockey - local derby and a draw in the end so everybody happy.
3. Loving my new gates - keypad lock and you don't have to wrestle with them to open them.
I like this very unusual angle in your shot of the swan. There's just one thing I want to know: HOW did anybody get hold of Adam's school uniform??!!!!! (Sorry.)
I'm always interested in the English homes - they have so many staircases and as one gets older, stairs become a drag! This is a beautiful swan nicely posed for you!
Great photo and story! The cost of houses is also very high up here. Seems impossible for young folk to get started off unless they have big cash behind them!
New gates ....have I missed something? House prices are way out of ordinary peoples reach ''down south'' you should come up here to get good value! I agree a garden should be accessed through kitchen & living areas....in the summer it would be useless!
Lovely droplets of water.....I am always amazed at the pure white feathers the swans have...you never see a dirty one!
@happypat I know - you should see what Nigel's niece has just bought in Stafford - if would cost ridiculous money here. Garstang will be going up in price now! We've had the gate part of the car port built - just garage doors really instead of old fashioned wrought iron - more private, less draught and further forward so more space for bins!
Wonderful downwards POV, looks like a female from this angle. Lovely droplets and colour. Did you take Monty round the show homes? Can't imagine Saski would behave.
If I only had enough money - I'm dreaming of a house with a garden in Cambridge and we're taking part in the lottery, so maybe some day ;). The picture is beautiful, perfect alignment and clarity!
Lovely tight crop and those droplets are exquisite. Good to hear you don't need to move house and great to hear that you have a hockey player in the family ...my husband and I met at West Hampstead Hockey Club. What a great game; we miss it, although find we don't get through quite so many tubes of arnica cream now :o)
Nice swan, the water on its head looks like ice !

Feel lucky to have a nice home so hard for those starting out.
