We have a chair in the middle of the lawn at the moment as it is the best place to catch the evening sunshine. I had a very pleasant 10 minutes with my new purchase - 'The Busy Girl's Guide to Digital Photography' - once the animals had stopped arguing about who was going to get the spot on my lap. I was a victim of Amazon's marketing strategy while browsing for 'Easter Eggs' for the family but it looks quite fun - not too high brow, possibly rather patronising - I'll let you know when I've got past Chapter 1. Anyway I am a little grumpy at the moment as having everybody at home for holidays is doubling my chore-type workload - I seem to spend half my time shopping for food and emptying/loading the dishwasher and the other half picking up clutter and washing and ironing piles of clothes. They are both revising so I feel a bit mean launching in to a rant every time they appear - and I think they've got rather good and sneaking in to the kitchen to get food without me spotting them. The normal workload hasn't gone anywhere of course - it's the downside to working from home.
Three GT:
1. I have done a food shop (yes another) so that I can concentrate on getting other things done tomorrow.
2. I'm taking Monty down to see family in Sussex on Wednesday so I won't be around when the next person says, 'We've run out of bread'.
3. I am going to borrow my neighbour's flora and fauna for some photos in a strategic multitask while feeding cats - been on a bit of a search today as one is missing.
Three Bad Things:
1. I redelivered some post to a neighbour and their letterbox slammed shut on my finger - I had to bleed all round my dog walking route.
2. Two burglar alarms going off across the road form each other on my dog walk including at a friend's house so I called the local police, waited ages and ages to talk to somebody and they said they don't respond unless there's a window open or a light on, not even when two are going off at once.
3. Woke up with conjunctivitis this morning - first time in about 40 years.
It sounds like you deserve that rest on that chair! And longer than ten minutes! Despite everything, you look very relaxed and serene. This is a lovely, natural selfie Judith.
Are you holding Monty incase he climbs a tree? Whilst you were relaxing with your book I was at Lakeside searching for a prom dress for Eve hobbling along with my boot. Exhausted!!
Sorry to hear about the Police response as I had a dog car, 2 other police cars and a helicopter when I heard a neighbour's alarm going off but I did think there was someone inside! Nice chilling shot. Hope you manage to get some relaxation when you go to Sussex
@lucypics I was making sure he didn't decide to run to Nigel and ruin my only photo op of the day! Your day was definitely harder than mine then - makes doing the cleaning look like a treat! Hope you found a frock! Rachel went into one shop in Cambridge with friends, was persuaded to try on one dress then rang me up to come & pay for it. 6th form prom dress she bought off the internet....job done!
So this was taken by Nigel? Very nice to see you just like this, a Judith! I was going to say it would have been difficult to set the camera, rush back put the cat on your lap, all while holding an enthusiastic Monty! I had though of putting "bad things" instead of good things but decided I didn't want to dwell on those! Yours are annoying but good reading!
Not sure who looks more regal - you or Monty! Agree about the downsides of working from home (add in loud electric guitar riffs in 'breaks' from revising - usually when I'm on a conference call!)
I missed the cat too! Have now gone back to look.. I think you deserve a great deal more than 10 mins having read about your household tasks today! This is a great portrait, both of you and Monty!
Reading this I feel my home is like yours ... two out of three sons home for the holidays and revising .... and yes, I'm also spending vast amounts of time (& money) at the supermarket! Enjoy! BTW, very nice image and you have a sweet dog!
Must have missed some of your photos this month Judith.....this one took my eye because we have chair & footstool like this but ours are still inside the shed yet. Too cold for me to sit out! Lovely restful scene of you & animals.
