And not just the surface - I am REALLY grumpy today. Not sure why except that it's half term and doesn't feel at all holiday-like. Not helped one bit by incessant rain that's due to continue. And I've been to the builders' yard and queued up only to be told they can't serve me till I've got a ticket from the men outside in case they haven't got what I'm trying to pay for - but outside they can't tell me if they've got what I want until I queue up and ask them at the counter that won't serve me. And then there's the woman in the supermarket car park who has NO IDEA where the back of her car is and keeps shuffling backwards and forwards even though she only needs to go back 18 inches to complete her manoeuvre and there 10 feet of clear space available. And then I hump bags of grit and sand about again and panic about whether the bearers for the shed floor will sit properly on the flags and not in the gaps (hurrah - they will!) and find out that the base is 2 inches too small and I have to rope in Adam who's just put his party clothes on and a garden rake and somehow move the enormous flags over by 2 inches and then there's one which isn't quite level and an hour later I'm soaked and everything is covered in mud.... Blimey I'm turning into Bella in 'My Big Shouting Day'.
Three GT:
1. Only me in so I'm going to sit in front of a fire with Monty and absolute junk on the TV.
2. I am going nowhere else in the rain.
3. I've made a big pot of coffee and will drink all of it - probably why I'm grumpy - first chance of a drink since halfway through the ironing this morning.
Hilarious tale of a day that should have been spent in bed! I can almost hear the words.." I cannot believe it".!!
I expect they are all glad to go out of your way...a big G&T sounds a good plan Judith! How I agree about the car manoeuvring ...some people shouldn't be driving...now you have me started!
Lovely rain drops on my favourite cow parsley !
@happypat I told Adam he hadn't to get drunk & need picking up because I'd be on the gin but have decided I had better stay sober as Nigel is in Germany!
@happypat Getting a taxi home - big group miles away & late home - but it only takes one to overdo it & the taxis turn them down so I'm being cautious!
This having to stay completely sober in case your kids drink too much when they are out palaver is something I hadn't considered until recently - it's a right pain. Especially on days like you have had today. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.
Lovely raindrops on cow parsley as Pat says. Its a good thing you can tell us what happens in your day - there might be no one else to let off steam with!
