Another day of clearing out and major progress with the weird over the stairs office room which was looking much more like a junk room. I spent a lot of time last weekend going through the filing cabinets and shelves - so much so that we've had to buy a new shredder! Today Nigel set about moving the big stuff around - we put an IKEA chest of drawers and a small filing cabinet on the front drive with 'FREE' written on them and they had gone within an hour. We now have much better access to shelves etc so hopefully it won't revert to junk room too quickly - and hopefully somebody is getting good use out of the furniture. I have a couple of leather chairs that have seen better days but the charity places won't take them because they can't repair the leather. They are really comfy with blankets over - my midwife friend says she goes out to ladies not far from us who only have plastic garden furniture to sit on - I'll try and arrange something through her perhaps - must be better than nursing a baby on a plastic chair.
By the time I'd walked the dog and made the dinner and cleaned the bathroom it was getting a bit dark for photos. On the way back from putting the hens to bed I spotted Gertrude Jekyll had thrown a beautiful bloom up above the roof of Nigel's office so I stood on a chair and took her photo.
Gertrude is looking like a stylish deva.......all alone in the dark! Beautiful Judith! Charity shops are getting a bit above them selves aren't they? Leather chairs are very classy even when ripped!
@quietpurplehaze smells beautiful too. We find it hard to train but now we prune it quite hard and then tie the new growth horizontally and the. New shoots grow out of the horizontal one and we get flowers. It sounds fine in theory but half way through summer great big branches start doing whatever they want despite our efforts!
You needed that high ISO for this shot - came out beautifully! I love cleaning out rooms - keep going back for another look at the nice and tidy and not cluttered room!
I'll pass these tips on to the gardener!
