Yellow Tailed Black cockatoo - interrupting dinner service with their appearance
I didn't notice the bird on the right, he was a bonus, I was just intent on focussing on the one on the left! My bird books tells me the one on the left is male (the eye ring is the give away and the one on the right female - grey eye ring and paler beak)
I was just serving up dinner I had cooked for my mum's birthday when I got an urgent summons by my dad and the family were all pointing out the window at these guys eating their dinner in the tree. They all know I had wanted to see them, they are a reasonably unusual sight around here. I grabbed my camera and rushed out to grab a shot or ten. The cockatoos were a little skittish and would move to a tree down the street as I approached, so naturally I followed them.
Dinner was tasty and not spoiled by the urgent photo interruption.
