Jade coloured waters - Tidal River - Wilson's Promontory
As suggested by the name, this river is tidal, waters ebbing and flowing with the tides.
Whilst the river is jade green in my photo, Tidal River ranges from a deep-yellow in shallower areas to a dark-purple and almost black in the deeper spots. This discolouration is due to the large number of tea trees present in the area. Earlier this year there were huge storms and floods on the prom, the bridge washed out roads and tracks washed out and I can only assume many of the trees which usually stain the waters were also affected.
@buggirl the water was so clear and inviting, the bottom of the river all sandy - looks a wonderful place to go swimming, was a little cool for me though after being accustomed to the 26-29 deg temps of the ocean on CI
Heavenly shot... the water is such a beautiful colour as are the rocks... I would certainly have wanted to dive in! Megan you seem to find heaven-on-earth shots everywhere :)
Lovely color and great rocks. I visited Wilson's Promentory when I was in Oz (20+ years now, sigh) and remember it as one of my favorite spots of that trip. Great shot.
