I have always had a soft spot for this shot, the balloon makes me think of a cartoon hot air balloon, it is such a perfect looking ball, the usual neck seen on a hot air balloon, utilised to add hot air to the balloon is missing. I'm still puzzled as to how the balloon was inflated.
The wet weather this weekend has had one benefit for me, I spent a lot of time scanning negatives. It is a time consuming process, my scanner handles up to 2 strips of 6 for each scan, and it is always a fiddle to fit them into the holder. Then it is about 2 mins for each frame, so it takes quite a while to scan a film of 36. I have gone through various boxes around the house and found that I have far more packs of negatives than I ever imagined, and only one or two lots that I haven't been able to locate yet. As each one finishes I am putting them into archival quality pages and where I have index prints including that too and putting them all in a folder. Feeling very good about getting it all organised. Most of my negs were cut into strips of 4 or 5 but a few are in strips of 6, of course the pages I bought hold up to a max of 5 so I will need to source some 6 strip pages too. The rain finally stopped this afternoon and it is supposed to be dry tomorrow but rainy later in the week again.
Great view - love the lush leaves in the foreground leading you in and all around the shot.
Glad it's stopped raining.. have you had a chance to check the roof yet?! It's bucketing down here - grey and cold. Time to get out the ironing (horror).
Interesting shot! That balloon is an unusual shape. They must have got the hot air in somehow!
I sympathise with the time-consuming processing- I've spent the day burning photos to disk - another slow process! :)
This is great Megan! Love how the scene is framed by palms, and how the balloon is right overhead the tallest part of the building. The balloon: A very curious one indeed; a first for me. (Don't envy you your tedious task. When i think of doing the same to the 1000's of negatives and slides of my own, i could just cry! Carry on; it is of course well worth it. :-) Take care, Les x
Its a tethered helium balloon...goodness knows how much helium they go through in a day. It is owned by Sokha the same company that runs the park (which is owned by the deputy prime minister) which makes millions in profits per annum so I guess it doesnt really matter.
@palusami aahhh helium, I didn't think of that. Thanks for that, I had been curious about it. I didn't know about the ownership either, I still have my park pass somewhere around the house.
