Crossing this bridge on the Tiber River in Rome I was fascinated to think I was crossing the oldest bridge in Rome still in its original state. It is also known as Ponte dei Quattro Capi, built in 62BC. It is 62m long and 5.5m wide, but for me it was mazing and awesome to stroll across something was has stood there so long I cannot even imagine the numerous figures from history who have used this bridge.
I later learnt that I had narrowly missed some major May Day demonstrations which led to police making arrest in another area of Rome that I had passed through earlier in the day.
I loved my time in Rome and would love to go back, perhaps I will see it on a Vespa next time. (I already retraced some of Audrey Hepburn's steps from Roman Holiday on that visit)
Oh my gosh what an amazing idea.... we have many roman roads here but I never thought of it as taking the same route as ancient peoples. (That said, I have held roman coins and wondered who, what, when...). Lovely picture, I'd love to go to Rome.
