I didn't anticipate that the crocs would be so close that I didn't need my telephoto zoom lens, the fact that they can jump makes you feel a little vulnerable inside the boat. I saw some jump up, getting their whole body and backlegs out of the water.
These guys are big too, many in the 2-4m range (6.5-13.1 feet) long. One salt water crocodile shot in the 1970s measured over 6 metres.
The guides on the boats knew and recognised many of the crocs, could tell us which were male and which were female and even had names for them.
Aw I don't know what the fuss is about - he looks a charming friendly fellow... such a sweet little face and cute little teeth. (hahaha - Incredible... how did you keep the camera still with your hands shaking?!)
