On this day in 2005 ..... I was taken on a tour of Cairo, and spotted this rooftop goat

I know if will be difficult to see, but there is a goat living in the shelter on this Cairo rooftop.

I was on the roof of the Sultan Qaitbey Mosque, in the City of the Dead, Cairo, completed 1474.

I felt very privileged to be able to climb the minaret and view the city from this vantage point. I was tempted to share one of the shots of the beautiful Mamluk architecture of this mosque, but the rooftop goat is a memory that still makes me smile and I wanted to share that instead.

I was very fortunate to be guided through Cairo by the Australian Ambassador's wife, a very talented quilter/textile artist named Jenny Bowker - we saw a number of artisans and textile workers through the day.

I know you would be able to better see the got if I had cropped the shot, but I wanted the full impact of the rooftop setting
A rooftop goat is way cool!

Amazing to have a goat living on a roof. And yes, you need to see the whole shot to put the goat in context.

At least it had shelter! It was a very interesting place...I didn't find any spots to climb up for a better vantage...I didn't have such a good guide!
