Vintage, 1950s. Purpose: viewing single slides through a slot in the top.
For the younger ones: About slides
It was a task to get this PreViewer working again. I first had to remove the corroded C-batteries and then go out and buy more C-cells. But it was helpful when the projector bulb blew.
Since I was able to get this working again, it will not be going to the Thrift Store, or Buy Nothing,* or the trash. I will keep this after I:
(1) review all the trays of Dad’s and my slides and choose what to scan
(2) get rid of the slide projector and screen … just in case more slides turn up.
So the tags below do not include ‘obsolete’. (I also have a “slide sorter.”)
I cleaned up this image a bit in ON1 — lots of dust on the screen and the corners around the frame. I took a hurried photo mostly to ask my brother if he remembers seeing this device at Mom and Dad’s: “Of course I remember that gizmo”!
