there is a painting that hangs on a wall at our office just like this photograph. i really like that painting since the first time i saw it. i thought it was well done and the perspective is such that it makes you want to have a pear. my intention is not to plagiarize that painting, but rather pay tribute to its artist by giving the concept a life in another medium.
now i have to eat all these pears. which was my ultimate motive anyway.
update: when i took this photo, i turned off all the fluorescent lighting in the living room and hallway and left just the dome covered incandescent lighting fixture in the kitchen. that accounts for the yellowish or golden tint. then i processed it three times in picnik's "soften" effect to get the painting-like finish. it's funny - i had all the bulbs in the living room changed to fluorescent because i didn't like how my set up shots would come out as yellow. 'tis a good thing i left the kitchen as is. my light bulbs, btw, are the environmentally-friendly kind. thank you for your time, ladies and gentlemen. i really appreciate your taking the time.
this is very beautiful and looks so much like a still life. your lighting is terrific. saw the suggestion for serving and must say, have never tried them that way - we just eat them and now am going to purchase some next time we are at the store and try them that way. sounds so good. never can have enough fruit!
You should have this photo finished and framed. It's absolutely stunning! Love the composition and the arrangement. Not to mention the lighting and color. WOW!
@sunnygreenwood - wow, thanks you, anne. i slice up my pears and eat it with thin slices of old gouda or old cheddar cheese. heavenly. i'll try that cinnamon trick it should be good as i do that with apple slices. thanks again.
@catsmeowb - isn't it fun that we get to learn something else around here on 365 aside from photography matters? let us know how you like it. thank you, camille.
@karenann - thank you, karenann. you know the lady at the office who sits beside this painting, had a portion of the painting photocopied and pinned on her desk. gives me an idea to have one or two printed and sell it to her. good idea?
@alia_801 - thank you, alia. the pears were sweet and they were just right.
Beatiful- great nod of the photographic head to the original artist! Excellent processing too and the lighting is perfect. Those light bulbs are not as environmentally friendly as everyone would like to think- they contain mercury which leaks into the environment when they are thrown out.
@pamfromcalgary - thank you, pam. lighting courtesy of the kitchen light.
@cscecil - this is not the painting. these are real pears. i tried to re-create the painting; it's quite not like this. thank you, CS.
