Our Ruby by 365projectorgheatherb

Our Ruby

This is "Ruby." She is a Freeman's maple, a hybrid of red maple and silver maple. Carolyn and I planted her in the park in 1999! Look how tall she is! We had asked for a sugar maple, but this is what the city provided, and we've grown to love her colour in the autumn (hence her name "Ruby")
Wow, You own tree in the city garden. Fav,
( I`ve one to in our city. But I`ve donated them to the city.)

@pyrrhula Hi Ferry. This was a kind of donation too. We paid for the tree, but we could request the type and location. In 2014 (our 30th anniversary), we also had a small plaque installed (again, a kind of donation to the city).

She has grown beautifully in just under 25 years. A lovely stroke of colour against the surrounding greens.

Respect to both of you Heather for planting this magnificent tree, we have planted trees in every property we have owned and also planted trees as volunteers, we might even have walked passed your tree when visiting Toronto :)

I remember Ruby, she's absolutely stunning. It's such a lovely idea for you and Carolyn to have your own special tree and to share it with everyone who uses the park. She's grown well and is clearly a happy tree 😁 Fav.
