Ashley challenged me to do a "gritty, edgy black and white" image this week. Passing by this abandoned truck stop I was taken by the old sign against the sky. The two rv's just happened to pull in and stop. I must admit that finding "gritty, edgy" subjects is a challenge, but I am trying to see what is around me in a new way.
Ashley @shesnapped ... Here is my first attempt at a "gritty, edgy black and white". It was edited in Lightroom, and then I took it to Silver Efex and used the film noir preset. Is it close?
It's a great nitty gritty shot! Love it. The photo reminds me of stop we made in our RV in a similar abandoned property. We have to find an easy place to park sometimes and this looked like a good one...lots of room. In this case it was a gas station. I took Charlie out for a walk and a car pulled up. It was obvious the gas stations was abandoned but the lady passenger got out and went to the restroom door and tried to open it. She had a desperate look, that I recognized. I offered our facility to her in our RV...but they took off without even responding. Hope she found an open gas station, we were in kind of a remote place.
@eyesmile That was so nice of you to offer. She may have just had to allow Mother Nature and the landscape to accommodate her. Sometimes in the wide open spaces that's the only option!
