killdeer

These are just two of a group of killdeer. They weren't bothered in the least by my presence. I sat and watched them for quite awhile as they scurried about calling to each other. There must not have been nests nearby, as there was no broken wing display by any of the birds and none tried to lead me away. Maybe it's a bit early for chicks.
I have not heard of these birds before - how pretty and love their decoy tactics too

Cute stripes! ...but what a dreadful name! 😲

These have nice markings, like the focus and dof. I also haven't heard of these before.

@tabbycat The name comes from the sound of it's call ... kind of a shrill kil-dee-dee-dee sound.

With the second bird, it almost looks like a mirror image of himself. Nicely captured.

so that's what they look like. I have learned so much botany and ornithology just browsing the offerings of those I follow on 365.

Dof is great. The 2nd bird certainly adds to the shot.
