We spent the evening on Figueroa Mountain Road seeking good wild flower spots. We found a couple of nice ones (not as good as many years but quite beautiful nonetheless.) However, it was the birding on our way back that got us fired up. While Heather (@pixelchix) was filming some blackbirds, I was lucky enough to catch this Golden Eagle coming at me, complete with supper in hand (poor little squirrel.) ...At least we're assuming it was a golden and not an immature Bald as we didn't think the baldies hunted mammals. Maybe it scavenged it? Whatever it was, SO COOL ! ! !
Awesome capture. I saw a Bald Eagle snag a fish out of the Sacramento River last summer, but unfortunately it wasn't close enough to get a picture. This is fabulous.
