Grosvenor Hill Then & Now by ajisaac

Grosvenor Hill Then & Now

Following on from my photo yesterday here is another view of the 'Grosvenor Hotel' buildings and beyond looking up Grosvenor Hill.

As mentioned yesterday only the lower building (half view in orange) is known as the 'Grosvenor today.

Apparently the buildings were first called 'Bridge House' at it is next to the road bridge over the Teifi to St Dogmael's (out of view).

Between 1895 and 1914 it was known as 'Sambrook's Temperance Hotel' as the Sambrook family lived there and were devout Christians.

In 1920 it was known as 'Grosvenor Temperance Hotel'.

The hotel continued in both buildings until 1976, when the right hand (blue) building was sold to the now Solicitors practice.

The 'Grosvenor' exists as a bar & restaurant now only in the lower first building.

Interesting history of the building. It is nice to see most of the old buildings still standing !

From temperance to bar, very interesting story. The outsides of the buildings don’t look that much changed. Terrific comparison.
