Today I tried to get back into my regular routine by taking an early morning walk. The streets were empty, the air was still. This fellow was stretched out in his front yard and watched me with an unblinking gaze while I took his picture. Then just as I finished, he exploded with great baying howls. I was glad he was chained. (To be fair, I wasn't really worried. How can you be afraid of a yellow lab?)
