On Friday Ellen alerted me that the bloodroot in the garden was about to open. I took a look, but the cold temperatures were keeping the flower from fully blooming. On Monday I returned and got the beautiful picture on the left. Today I returned and all but one of the flowers had completely disappeared, either blown away by the strong breezes or just naturally reaching the end of their life span. I feel fortunate that I was there on Monday when the flower was at its best.
