Lots of construction rising at the edge of the Upper School campus. This project is called The Academic Commons and is envisioned as a 27,000 square foot library/multi-purpose building. It is designed to meet United States Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED Certified criteria. The library space within is 7,500 sq. foot. Other areas include an archives, a writing center counselor and academic services offices, and lots of flexible space that can be used in many different ways. The previous library is being spruced up for the Middle School so for the first time Middle and Upper School students will not have to co-exist in the same space.
This building and all it encompasses will be a wonderful addition to the school, but, having lived through several construction projects in the Lower School, I'm grateful that this time all the dust and debris is on the other side of the campus!
