John and Meg thought we might enjoy seeing the site of an important moment in American history so we went to Minute Man National Park in Concord, MA to view the North Bridge. At this location on April 19, 1775 colonial militia attacked British soldiers for the first time, a moment memorialized as "The shot heard round the world." Here you see The North Bridge, or rather a rebuilding of it. The original was allowed to fall into disuse and was not rebuilt for almost 100 years. To the right is a minute man who was happy to answer questions about the day-long battle. On the bottom is the monument to fallen British soldiers which I found particularly poignant.
I like that the collage almost looks like it could be a "one shot" composition, if you get my meaning: the soldier looking at the grave and the bridge on the background..
