Solving the Puzzle

I had never heard of this brain teaser til a third grader came through the library this morning triumphantly carrying her finished puzzle. What you see is 36 Cube and here are the directions:
"The 36 Cube is a three-dimensional sudoku puzzle created by ThinkFun. The puzzle consists of a gray base that resembles a city skyline, plus 36 colored towers. The towers come in six different colors and six different heights. The goal of the puzzle is to place all the towers onto the base so as to form a level cube with each of the six colors appearing once, and only once, in each row and column."
This youngster has been resolutely attacking the problem once a week during Morning Math Club for months. Today she finally succeeded. (Note: the columns referred to in the directions are those across the top, not from the base up.) For photos of the game pieces, follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36_Cube Notice that the gray pieces are part of the base.
Oh wow!! I have the flat version of this for my kids (kina like a color Sudoku), but this is amazing!! I know a few kids who could get lost in this!!! :) Great shot!

That kid deserves some kind of trophy! I got a migraine just reading the description! Obvi, Sudoku is NOT my cup 'o tea. Ha ha ha! Great shot, especially with the red dress and gray carpet to offset the diabolical puzzle!

I am proud to say that my daughter is the puzzle solver in red! She persevered week after week to find the solution and was beaming this morning when she arrived at my office door with the completed puzzle in hand. (I am fortunate to work at the school where my children attend.) Of course, I snapped a photo as well but it was not nearly as well composed at the one above. Thank you Allison for the feature photo and story on your 365 blog.

It looks cool, but when it comes to puzzles I kind of run the other way. They work on my nerves to no end LOL.

I agree with Rick :-) Never heard of this one....reminds me of Rubik's cube. I'll stick with my crossword puzzles. Great shot and love all the colors.
