Do you recognize the familiar cupola and columns from Washington's famous home? And even if you weren't certain, there's the name: "Mount Vernon". What you can't see, because i cropped it from the sign, is "Condominiums". And instead of being the retirement home of America's First President, this is the condo home of me. I don't actually live in this particular building (mine is red brick) but this is the face of the complex which people traveling the main street would see. And since Washington was born and lived in what became the state of Virginia (tho not Richmond) it is not entirely inappropriate for this faux Mt. Vernon to be located here. Just thought I'd share a little American history and personal biography with y'all.
What a nice way to introduce us to your home! Your caption filled in all the pertinant information about how this came to be so sutied in your neighborhood. It's lovely, and looks like it extends a nice "Welcome Home" each time you return!
I like your comment. I love hearing about and seeing the towns and surroundings of were everyone lives. I haven't traveled far away from home, these days, but sometimes I feel like I have seen my country and the world through everyone's photos.
I always think its interesting the liberties that builders take with names for their building complexes.
Thanks for the introduction to your "home place".
