You've all heard of a Spelling Bee; Well this is a Geography Bee. It is the culminating activity of an intense study by our fourth graders. The top nine students, based on test scores in the classroom, met to answer questions provided by National Geographic. The audience is comprised of all their classmates plus third graders and parents of the participants. The questions are very challenging even for us teachers. In the end we had one winner and a runner up. And for the first time, both of the finalists are girls. The winner goes on to be tested at a higher level in hopes of qualifying for the National Bee in Washington DC.
