Close to the gravesite of my parents is the burial plot of Willard O. Lindsay Sr., Sgt US Marine Corps, veteran of World War II. He was born January 5, 1924 and died almost one year ago on August 16, 2010. This flag made of a thin sheet of metal rests in front of his grave marker. I couldn't help but think of the military funeral service in which the flag which rests atop of the coffin is folded and presented to the family of the deceased. Sgt. Lindsay lived a long life, many years after his service in the War, but clearly it was a defining part of his life, and as I stood next to his grave, I silently acknowledged the sacrifice he made and paid my respects.
Love the flag.
