First there was Flat Stanley. Then, thanks to Louise, there was Flat Allie, and here is another 2 dimensional traveler, who rode along with me on my holiday. I learned about Norbert on Twitter. A public library in Downers Grove, Illinois invited readers to download a template of their gnome to color and cut out, and then photograph him on vacation. So Norbert went to Massachusetts with me and the 2 big kids at Meg's party prepared him for his debut. Early one morning the two of us went down to the beach, and Norbert was thrilled. Coming from Illinois, he'd never seen the ocean before. I gave him support, both moral and my hand on the left and he posed graciously. A few days later his photo was flying through cyberspace and I like to picture him on display in the Junior Room of the Downers Grove Public Library, trading vacation stories with all the other gnomes.
Very cute! I had a Flat Rose who went to Brooklyn with me. I took a picture of her sitting in the car with the skyline in the window. Yeah- not one of my safest driving moves. You should have the Downer's Grove Public Library send you a photo of their Gnomes on Vacation wall, put up this picture from your trip and tell the story in your library come fall. Perhaps there could even be a "What I did on my summer vacation wall" for all of the students. Anyway- this is a fun shot!
