Not a great picture but I'm happy to announce the arrival of the newest electronic device from Amazon--the Kindle Fire. This is a less expensive version of the iPad, without the camera. I've downloaded a number of public domain titles and free apps and plan to let teachers try it out before January. After that, we'll see how students do with it.My first impression is that the sharpness of the graphics is fabulous, and the size of the screen is good. In fact it may be more than we need as an e-reader. Those of you looking for a less expensive netbook for a Christmas gift, at $200, it's a good deal.
@phil_howcroft You are right, Phil. I love electronics (Take after my father!) But fortunately, staying abreast of the latest in technology is part of the job description of a 21st century librarian!
I have a feeling it would be great for those books you read once and then go on to the next one. Most of my reading is more in depth than that- but it would be handy to not need so much shelf space!
