If you want examples of antiquity, what better place to look than the science lab. Mrs. Stultz has the most wonderful collection of "stuff" she has gathered over the many years she has been teaching. Her classroom is like a wonderful attic and wherever you turn there are the most remarkable and unique treasures. This, for example, is a section of a bone she picked up out West one summer. I don't know how old it is but Mrs. S. thought it was fossilized. To my non-discerning eye, It looked like a bongo drum.
Allison, I showed my husband and he said, "Vertebrae - see the processes?" I asked from what and he said, "Probably a cow. Without scale it could be from a dinosaur or a fish." Smarty pants! About how big is it?
ok. i don't know if he'll know what it is, but he might. oh, besides where, like Utah or Arizona, he asked if she found it lying on the ground or in rock.
When glancing at the photo, I thought it was about an inch high and my first though was - vertebrae. I still say vertebrae, but those dimentions seem quite large. @pinktornado39 - If you find out what it is (was), I would like to know.
