After a morning of painting, we headed over to the Science Museum of Virginia for an afternoon devoted to a celebration of the arts. Once again I quote from the appropriate website:
"Cultsha Xpo is an annual event presented by CultureWorks spotlighting the Richmond region’s non-profit arts and culture organizations.
Cultsha Xpo is a gathering for Cultural Shareholders (cultsha member) – persons who recognize and value strong arts and culture for great communities.
Cultsha Xpo is an explosion of the arts, history, science, and family fun for the Richmond Region under one roof, on one day.
FREE admission to the Science Museum of Virginia.
FREE performances from local arts and culture organizations including musical, visual art, theatrical, historical, dance and more; Opportunities for families to learn more about classes, tickets, subscriptions, performances, education programs and more.
FREE money, “CultshaBucks” for each registered cultsha member to use at the event, with any of the participating organizations. Grants are provided by CultureWorks to each organization in the amount of their collected CultshaBucks.
I registered earlier this month online and when we got to the former train station/ now science museum I was given a packet of information and an envelope with 10 “CultshaBucks” to give to what ever organization I chose to support. There were over 100 arts groups represented. and I divided my bucks between the public library, the Black History Museum, the Richmond Symphony, and The Triangle Players.
What a great idea and what a wonderful turnout of families and individuals having fun, supporting the arts.
This sounds like an amazing celebration of the arts! What a beautiful building - I like the way you spent your "bucks" - not surprised you gave some to the public library!
I love the gorgeous day you captured, the beautiful composition, the framing, and additionally the story of community coming together for good causes and pure enjoyment! I remember many many pictures ago how your art collection unfolded to us through your photography.
Sounds like you're experiencing some fun adventures this summer. Can't wait for our grandson to come visit so we can do some exploring, too. Really lovely shot and good information.
