More from the Garden

I hope this isn't too creepy for you. Yesterday afternoon I discovered the milkweed pods were swarming with brightly colored bugs. I checked with my resident garden expert, and she informed me that these insects are called, (drum roll, please) Milkweed Beetles. They suck the sap from the ripe pods. One day they were nowhere to be seen and the next the milkweed was covered with them. I guess that was the day the milkweed was declared ripe.
Awesome

I've seen those in my yard, but I have no idea what a milkweed looks like!

@weshook Here is a link to some pods that have burst so the seeds can float away http://www.whelanphoto.com/pods.htm And here is a page with images of the milkweed flowers: http://www.bugguy012002.com/MILKWEED.html
