Meet birthday girl Gillian and her Mom. This is the 6th year this young lady has chosen to skip a party and presents for herself and, instead, ask for donations for the Central Virginia Food Bank. Last year she funded 6,000 meals! On Friday she sold home made cupcakes and lemonade in her neighborhood. She also brought dozens of cupcakes to church this morning. I'm happy to report she sold out. A great present for many people who might go to bed hungry without the efforts of people like Gillian.
@ellen This room is called "the small dining room" at church, for meetings and meals for small groups. When this color was originally selected for this room there was a lot of heated discussion which has since subsided. I guess we all got used to it!
I was talking to someone today about their grandchildren, whom they fear are totally self-centered, spoiled and ill-behaved. I'm printing this out for her. Perhaps this might help her grandchildren to appreciate things a bit more. What a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday- gives me an idea for my upcoming Christmas "list".
