Words can not do this installation justice, but here is a quote from a local review that sums it up rather well:
"The Persian Ceiling – is a walk-through exhibit where you look up to see over 1,000 pieces of illuminated glass.
Organizers say that visitors can also lie down on the floor beneath it to get a better look at the vivid sea urchins, bubbles, vessels and jellyfish shapes.
“When I started the Persians [in 1986], I was thinking of spice tones,” Chihuly said on the tour. “But they got brighter. I loved the name Persian.”
Lit from above, the piece is an artistic take on a Persian rug – filled with over 1,000 hand-blown objects that invite discoveries of shape, color and light."
This is the entrance to the arrangement, and you can see that the light and shadows are almost as beautiful as the glass pieces themselves.
Wonderful shot.
And thank you. This man has been a favorite of mine for years. We have a chandelier of his at our Art Museum. We took a two hour trip several years ago to see an installation of his.
