Early Spring by allie912

Early Spring

I was driving home from the ortho-doc today (who, BTW, released me from his care, I am happy to report.) when I was brought up short by this flowering bush. I'm sure I looked like something from an old-time cartoon, doing a double take, putting on the brakes and hopping out of the car to get this hipstamatic shot. At first I thought it was forsythia, but on closer inspection, I don't believe it was. Whatever it is, it sure made me feel better as I shivered in 40 degree temperature.
My good friend and master gardener, Ellen has come through again with an ID for this plant. I was kind of disappointed that its winter blooming was not a miracle.

What a beautiful sight ...always a nice surprise to see some flowers and color in the middle of a wintry day. I'm not sure what these are, but they are wonderful.

The same thing happened to me yesterday. Couldn't believe my eyes. This is always a nice sight in the middle of Winter.

My goodness, I would have stopped too. So cold today and not a flower in sight.

This is gorgeous. Our flowers are under a 12" blanket of snow. *sigh*

So pretty! I can see why you stopped. Glad to hear you're all healed up and done with your doc!

Beautiful image! It's nice to see this. Shivering in 40 degrees? 40 degree would be a heat wave for me. It was five degrees here this morning! I wasn't shivering...but numb!

@mrssmith I feel your pain. I always check the temp. Each morning in my location and my 2 kids. For me, 36 degrees. My daughter in MA it was 6 and my son in FL it was 60! What a country!

They're all blooming in Paris too! It's called "winter jasmine" but I think there're so many flowers due to the warm weather! and i love your picture Allison
