Natural Pointillism

When I first saw this picture after it had been uploaded, I was struck by how much it looked like the brush work of French post- impressionist Georges Seurat. Here is a summary of his philosophy as found in Wikipedia:
" The emotion of gaiety can be achieved by the domination of luminous hues, by the predominance of warm colors, and by the use of lines directed upward. Calm is achieved through an equivalence/balance of the use of the light and the dark, by the balance of warm and cold colors. "
What this description omits is Seurat's use of tiny dots of complementary hues placed next to each other to create harmonious colors. Check out all his works here: http://www.georgesseurat.org/
BTW, this is SOOC, no painterly effects added.
Very cool shot

Very true- Seurat would like it! And then he would paint it!

Great connection! I always visit the Seurat at the Art Institute in Chicago when I visit. Such fun to see up close!

@archaeofrog your comment made me think of one of my favorite movies of all times. Ferris Bueller.
