This was a total impulse buy from Sunday's Watermelon Festival. If you are curious, you can look at yesterday's collage to find the shoemaker himself and some of his wares. They were all eye catching and raised my spirits just looking at them. According to their business card, Cesar and Roberto use molas, the handmade textiles of the indigenous Kunas in Columbia and Panama. The shoes are sturdy yet lightweight and washable. When I put them on, I feel like dancing (or at the least, skipping). Their website is http://www.molas4u.com.
Oh Allie, what an awesome find! When we were in Panama and Colombia early this year, I bought 2 shoulder bags with molas and one flat piece that I'm having made into another bag at present! I LOVE the work! For all the cutting and stitching that goes into them, they nearly give them away (by our standards!) I was glad to see your company even offered a bag with small patchwork pieces...good to see nothing go to waste! You've going to look fabulous in these...they're totally cute cute cute!
