The official opening of school brings faculty and students from kindergarten through 12th grade together on the football field to hear formal addresses from the senior class presidents and the head of school, the singing of the National Anthem and the Alma Mater, music from the jazz ensemble and dancing by the entire 4th grade. The highlight is always the pairing of kindergarteners and "their" seniors as they march in together, often with the seniors carrying kindergartners on their shoulders. As you look across an ocean of green and gold, you can't help but feel the infinite possibilities of a new school year.
I really think your school such a great job in connecting the student body and the idea of pairing srs. with k's is fun for both of them. How great the srs. get to see before they leave Collegiate the impact they can have on someone. Great collage!
@olivetreeann Last year the senior class president invited to convocation the graduate who 13 years before had been "his" senior. Now a successful businessman living some distance from Richmond, he was thrilled to be back and reconnect with his now-grown kindergartner!
