I wish I had room to include every picture I took this afternoon. The Tech Expo included engineering projects designed and created by teams of 4th graders. The engineering and science teachers shown in the upper left corner introduced coding and maker activities as part of their curriculum, but the students went far beyond the introduction to create games like the classic "Operation" (Far right, second from the bottom), design elaborate "Rube Goldberg" contraptions, (Top row, next to the teachers) program musical instruments (find the guitar and the drums!) and build lots of labor-saving Lego creations. It was a wonder to behold; not just the devices but seeing how authoritatively the designers explained the process of building their creations. These students are being well-prepared for their future.
