A friend gave me a gift card to Olive Garden as a retirement gift. We hadn’t been in years so this console on the table was new to me. For $1.99 kids can entertain themselves while waiting for their meal. I guess that’s a good idea, but I’m sorry that conversation is not enough.
I agree with you Allison. when out for lunch we see moms texting at the table, little kids asking questions and being ignored. older children texting as well. no one talks to each other anymore. what is the world coming to.
I agree with you about conversation coming in second to electronics, Allison. We ate at Olive Garden recently, and I the server had to show me how to use the little gadget to pay, but it did help me calculate the tip (so I guess we don't need math skills anymore, either?)
I agree about the use of these gadgets too but I do think they have their uses in small doses. When we go out fir meals in NZ the boys are allowed to use their games consoles as they wait for their meals to arrive. We can chat, they don’t get bored & they sit at the table nicely not bothering others. Usually after we’ve had a long day out together doing lots of activities.
Or crayons and a place mat to color on- it's a digital world. On the other hand Pat makes a good point- sometimes it makes the kids happy and the adults can visit. I guess in small doses it's not too bad.
