After attending a luncheon lecture at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, I took in the informative exhibition on John Marshall that will be leaving soon. He was a remarkable man, serving as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for 34 years and putting his stamp on the workings of the judiciary. It was due to his far-seeing vision that the judicial branch of government is of equal authority with the presidency and congress. His home is in downtown Richmond and also worth visiting.
