My favorite feature in the Sunday New York Times is the Metropolitan Diary where people submit personal stories about unique events they experienced in New York City. Last Sunday a man reminisced about a special strawberry swirl cheesecake he loved from a bakery called Junior’s. That led to many comments from people weighing in to say they felt the same way. When one of the posters said Junior’s Cheesecake is now available for ordering nationally, I decided to track it down. Imagine my surprise to find my local Publix, less than half a mile away, carries it. It took two days to get it thawed and ready to serve. Tonight we tried it. My judgment — I’m sure it is fine cheesecake, but definitely too rich for me.
