PS I realise you may not have had time to change any camera settings, and forgive me if you already know this, but if you had upped the ISO to 1250 with a single point of focus you would have more than likely got the birds sharp - though it's not an exact science!

@dailydelight definitely was a rushed shot as my hands were cold and the camera battery was just about gone and I forgot my backup battery....(its always something!)...but I always appreciate any pointers anyone wants to give me...I am here to learn! Thanks for the info.
