The Docks Precinct

Cockatoo Island, the largest island in Sydney Harbour, has been used by various colonial, state and federal administrations, first as a penal facility and later as a dockyard, since its initial European occupation in 1839.
After 1913 Cockatoo Island Dockyard had been involved in the construction, maintenance and refit of a large variety and number of both naval and maritime vessels. Cockatoo Island Dockyard was decommissioned on 31 December 1991.

I like both of these, but I can't believe I am saying this, but I prefer the color one.

Lot of work going on here. I think this looks great in b&w.

Looks very industrial and gritty, which suits the subject!

I do prefer the coloured one. Or perhaps after seeing the coloured one I miss the brightness here. My mind keeps filling it in...

I think this ages the scene a bit more than the color version...I like them both!

I like this b&w treatment too, but in an important sense, it's a quite different image - which is fine, of course.
